Education

Once again a film crew has gathered footage of what we do in the workshop. The national tv-station VASAT 1 had a lot of interest in the project and made an extensive documentary. Shortly we shall be able to watch it on the television and reach lots of people and introduce them to what we do and what the workshop stands for.

This week we had this years 5000-th customer. Actually, there were two...both of them stuck their heads around the corner at the same time, stating they wished to have a schoolbag and each handed in 250 sachets. We let Momin and Gadafi, in order to celebrate this event, choose any item from the shop and they loved having their picture taken!

Once again we have been on national television several times, accompanied by a short film made of us. It looks like they approve of the cause and when there is time left, the film is shown! This week, an article was also placed in the newspaper, The Daily Graphic, Ghana's largest paper. A full page article with a beautiful picture!

Pollution

Early morning, February 5th, when we start working, everything is fine and dandy, but a little while later we are startled by extremely loud music coming from the direction of the nearby 'Police Park'. We inquire, investigate, deliberate and within the hour we are headed that way with our goods, because where there is music, there are children, and those are the ones we want to reach! The very popular brand Guinness is organizing a hunt for soccer talent. We find a good spot under a tree, just outside the gates which is convenient because the kids aren't actually allowed inside. WE have now become the main attraction for the gathering young crowd!

Once again it was a huge success, making lots of kids enthusiastic to help collect litter which lead to a clean park, thousands of sachets were taken in by us and we saw many a happy face when the kids got their item!

Products

We explore the market in Tamale and try to sell our products there for the first time. We especially wanted to promote our shopping bag, but it turns out the schoolbag is a much larger success! But the most successful item is the sailcloth! We got orders in for 71 yards! The sailcloth is a true niche in the market!

We have educated and have tackled pollution by recycling a staggering amount of sachets: 942.800 pieces! A team of more or less 12 people has had the chance to expand and develop itself and to produce beautiful creations! That deserved a toast!
